Alena Mižíková and Patrik Malý, specialists from the Slovak Railways Company (ZSSK), shared their recent experiences with the Dynatrace platform, which they have been using in production for just a few weeks. During their presentation at the Alanata Hotspot 2023 conference, they focused on their current perspective on implementing this technology and highlighted its benefits, emphasizing the clarity and ease of deployment, as well as the wealth of valuable information Dynatrace provided them immediately.
REVEALING VULNERABILITIES IN PRACTICE
ZSSK ells more than 41 million tickets annually, with up to 15 million sold via the internet or mobile application. Their main goal was vto improve the ticket purchasing process through these distribution channels and to ensure a monitored environment considering security risks. Shortly after implementing Dynatrace, they identified several shortcomings and revealed multiple potential vulnerabilities in the systems used.
„Automatically detected vulnerabilities appeared in the systems, which was not a pleasant sight for us,” says Patrik Malý, adding, “we gradually identified all vulnerabilities as well as individual dependencies to gain a better overview of how the entire application works and how to speed up the operation of some other applications.“
DYNATRACE REPLACES THE WORK OF SEVERAL TOOLS
Alena Mižíková points out the significant difference in the quality of data provided compared to the open-source tools they used previously. In the past, they had to laboriously and complexly combine several different tools for application or user behavior analysis, which only provided partial results. A major benefit of the Dynatrace platform is that it can provide all this information comprehensively and consistently in one platform. This tool efficiently integrates relevant data, significantly reduces time, and streamlines work.
In the near future, they plan to gradually extend the use of the Dynatrace platform to measure user experience in the mobile application and monitor the operation of vending machines.
